Elderly Coventry man dies in M42 crash

AN ELDERLY man from Coventry has died following a crash on the M42.

The 83 year-old man died after a crash on Saturday (August 19).

A 74 year-old woman he was in the car with has been taken to hospital where she is in a critical condition.

The driver of the other car – a Peugeot 307 – fled the scene on foot and police are now currently looking for him.




The crash took place on the northbound road between junction 10 and 11 near Granada Service Station in Atherstone.

Det Insp Tim Sharp said: “The deceased’s next of kin has been informed and specially trained officers are offering support to his family.


“We’re currently working to locate the driver of the Peugeot and would appeal for anyone with information to contact us.

“We’re also keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision.”
