Excellent GCSE results in Coventry

Coventry Editorial 25th Aug, 2023   0

COVENTRY schools enjoyed excellent GCSE results yesterday, with more than two-thirds of city secondary schools seeing improved results compared to 2019 in the strong pass grades in English and Maths combined.

Compared to 2019, the 2023 Coventry cohort saw an improvement in English and Maths combined in both the Strong Pass grades 9-5 and the Standard Pass grades 9-4.

In addition, the number of students who achieved strong results across eight subjects remained the same in 2023 compared to 2019.

Coventry City Council’s cabinet member for education and skills, Coun Dr Kindy Sandhu said she was delighted to see another year of improvements for the city.

“These results show how hard young people have worked over the last couple of years and reflect their efforts and determination to succeed whatever the circumstances.

“They have been incredibly well supported by their families and teachers and staff at their school and for this I’m always immensely grateful and proud.”
