OFFICERS from Warwickshire Police OPU checked the road safety of 34 vehicles and their drivers in a multi-agency operation on a check site on Winding House Lane in Exhall.
The OPU was joined by West Midlands Police Road Harm Prevention Team, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency to conduct the check.
Officers brought the vehicles onto the site, during which several offences were found such as insecure loads, tyre defects and excessively tinted windows.
Seven vehicles were seized for no insurance or licence, while five more were dealt with by DVSA for no Tax.
Nine were prohibited for Road Worthiness issues, while one person was arrested as he was wanted for drug offences.
Drivers were told to provide a breath test and drug swipe, although all were negative, and their eyesight was checked.
PC Pete Hayes said 85 per cent of the vehicles and drivers brought in during the operation required some action.
He added: “We check absolutely everything we can to ensure both the vehicles and drivers are not a risk to innocent road users in Warwickshire and beyond.
“It’s not all about detecting offences, ten drivers received words of advice but one thing is clear, we will continue to target those drivers and companies that put others at risk on the roads.”
