A FAMILY fun day is being hosted by Coventry Rugby on Friday, August 30, at Butts Park Arena.

Between 10am and 3pm the team will host the event which is open to everyone.

The opportunity to get involved in activities including netball, rugby inflatable, basketball. garden games and axe throwing will be available.

There will also be face painting, an ice cream van and Food Heroes selling soft drinks, burgers and chips.

Local support services will be going to the event to offer information and advice, including Family Hubs, Coventry Library, Job Shop, Adult Education, Coventry Be Active, Be Healthy Team, Health Visitors, Healthy Lifestyles, Men’s Shed, Severn Trent, Coventry GP Alliance, Sherbourne Valley Project, Voluntary Action Group, Community Police.

Coventry Rugby’s head of community Wes Blair said: “Everything we focus on as a community team is about encouraging family involvement in sport and healthy behaviour.

“In addition, we regularly hear how difficult it can be for families to access wider support in important areas such as employment, health and wellbeing so we’ve tried to help with that by bringing as many relevant support services to the BPA as possible.”

The event comes as part of the teams annual project 500 summer camp scheme.

With the help of sponsor Charter Savings Bank and the support of local supermarket Morrisons this provides activities and meals for disadvantaged children across Coventry and Warwickshire.
