Father Christmas in need of presents for vulnerable Coventry children

Coventry Editorial 12th Dec, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016

FATHER Christmas needs the help of generous residents to fill his sack of presents for the city’s vulnerable children.

Santa’s Christmas Sack campaign, with the help of Coventry City Council and City College Coventry, is aiming to make every child’s Christmas magical.

To fill the the sack they need presents worth about £10 each, wrapped and labelled with the age range and gender of the child they are intended.

Anyone wanting to take part will need to donate the gifts as soon as possible so there is time to have them delivered.

Sam Bodinnar, the organiser of the Santa’s Christmas Sack campaign, said: “I want to thank everyone that has already donated for their amazing generosity and encourage those who would like to donate to get in touch.”

Coun Ed Ruane, who is responsible for children’s services, said he really hoped people would get on board with the campaign which was aiming to put a smile on the faces of lots of the city’s children who would otherwise potentially get nothing for Christmas.

“We’re supporting all of the hard work that Sam has already put in to the Christmas Sack campaign by helping with the outreach for the gifts – our staff and partners see many children they know would love a Christmas surprise, and I’m really pleased that we can help.”

City College Coventry are supporting the campaign by organising donations from students and staff.

Santa’s Sack is also looking for more organisations and businesses to support it with gifts or donations.
