FIRE CREWS were called out to Remembrance Road in Willenhall after a suspected arson attack was carried out on a corner shop.

West Midlands Fire Service received a 999 call at 2.58am on Friday morning (October 14) and sent three fire engines to the scene and 15 fire fighters – two crews from Coventry and one from Binley.

Neighbouring properties were checked out by the fire service to ensure there was no fire spread.

West Midlands Police are now investigating the fire and believe the incident was started deliberately.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: “The fire was severe and took place in a single story end terraced shop.

“Four main water jets, one hose reel jet and a hydraulic platform were used to put the fire out.

“We received a stop message at 6.48am this morning, though crews remained at the scene this morning to deal with any hotspots.”
