A COVENTRY man has been jailed for three and a half years after he burgled a Warwick home before attempting to do the same at a Leamington property.
Ryan Kean, 41, was sentenced at Coventry Crown Court on Thursday, January 5 after being found guilty of burglary and attempted burglary.
In July 2020, the attempted burglary saw Kean use a garden fork to try to break into a house in Eaton Close but he was disturbed by the resident and fled empty-handed.
A month later, Kean broke into a house on Myton Road where he stole several items including jewellery, but CCTV captured him climbing over the fence to the property before using a fork to force open a window and gain entry.
Forensic evidence left on the garden forks identified Kean as the suspect and he was arrested and charged.
Detective Constable Christopher Pitt from Leamington Proactive CID said: “Burglary is extremely traumatic for victims and leaves a lasting impact. I am pleased Kean is now behind bars.
“This sentence should reassure people of our commitment to tackling burglary and bringing offenders to justice.”
