FOUR people have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences by detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands CTU.
Two men, aged 26 and 18, were arrested on January 31 in Coventry on suspicion of engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
A 58-year-old woman was also arrested on January 31, while a 57-year-old man was arrested the following day.
They were both arrested on suspicion of funding terrorism under section 15 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
All four are currently being questioned by West Midlands police following the pre-planned arrests.
A search of a Coventry address continues, but police said there isn’t believed to be any imminent threat to the public.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Every year thousands of reports from the public help police tackle the terrorist threat.
“If you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts and ACT by reporting to police in confidence here.”
