Fox makes grave mistake in graveyard

Coventry Editorial 3rd Jul, 2017   0

FOXES may be known for their cunning but this one made a ‘grave’ mistake at a Leamington cemetery.
The RSPCA were called out to St Mary Magdalene Church on Vicarage Road to rescue the fox after he got his head tightly wedged between two gravestones.
Insp Georgia McCormick found the animal and believes he had been there from the night before.
She said: “I’m not sure how he managed to get there, or how long he had been there for, but he really was in a tight spot. The call came into us at 11am, and as foxes are nocturnal animals I can only imagine he had been there from the night before.
“I managed to carefully free him and check him over – thankfully he wasn’t injured and so he was released back into the wild.
“I dread to think what could have happened to him if we hadn’t have been contacted.”
Anyone who sees injured wildlife or an animal in distress should call 0300 1234 999 to contact the RSPCA.
