COVENTRY’S The Yard will be hosting a free Boxing Day Social for the local community and people in need this festive season.
The LGBTQ+ bar, nightclub and community venue will be open between midday and 4pm on Boxing Day, where they will be offering free hot and cold drinks and refreshments, as well as a friendly and warm environment.
The Yard has been hosting annual free festive events since opening five years ago, collaborating with Shelter and Coventry Pride on several Christmas events in previous years.
And they have been attempting to spread some festive cheer around the city, collecting donations throughout December for Coventry Open Christmas to help them provide warmth, shelter and hot food to those who need it most.
Aran Nugent, Marketing and Events Manager said: “I think events like our Boxing Day Social are really at the heart of what we want to achieve as a venue.
“This time of year can be difficult for people for any number of reasons, so we always like to help out and offer resources when we can to make the festive season warmer and brighter for people in Coventry.”
The venue has previously supported charities including Coventry Pride, Myton Hospice and LGBTQ+ youth charity Prism and hosts free, twice-monthly Coffee Mornings at the venue where people can meet new people.
