THERE will be three free family-friendly events in Coventry city centre this week to celebrate St George’s Day.
The St George’s Day Dragon trail will take place from today (Tuesday April 22) to Friday (April 25) in four participating venues – Coventry Cathedral, Coventry Transport Museum, Belgrade Theatre and Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.
A prize is up for grabs for anyone who completes the trail and locates each dragon on the map.
On the Patron Saint of England’s day itself – Wednesday (April 23) – there will be a St George’s Day Pageant from 11am to 3.30pm where visitors can catch St George slaying his Dragon in Broadgate, as well as seeing Morris dancers and a DJ.
The Home from Home Arts Exhibition takes place from 5pm to 9pm on Friday (April 25), sharing the values of unity, history and cultural diversity in its featured pieces.
Coun Abdul Salam Khan, Coventry City Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for events, said: “We’re delighted to once again be holding free family-friendly events to celebrate St. George’s Day this month.
“Those in the city centre will be able to watch performances in Broadgate, take part in the Dragon Trail and explore some of Coventry’s fantastic venues or enjoy an evening exhibition with some of Coventry’s Cultural groups.
“Last year our St George’s Day celebrations were extremely popular and we hope to see many join us again this year.”
