Free guided walks around Coventry to celebrate national community rail week

Coventry Editorial 24th May, 2023   0

TWO free guided walks will be held around Coventry to celebrate National Community Rail Week.

The walks will be run by the Heart of England community rail partnership, with the first one departing Coventry rail station at 10am this Saturday, May 27.

Walkers will take in the city’s sights across three miles on the Coventry Rail Trail while there will also be lunch at the Canal Basin’s Playwright’s Cafe.

A shorter buggy and wheelchair-friendly guided walk will be available from the rail station at 2pm.

Community Rail Week highlights the work of Britain’s 76 community rail partnerships which cover 34 per cent of Britain’s railway network.

It also acknowledges the 1,200 station friends groups made up of more than 10,000 volunteers who tend to 47 per cent of Britain’s 2,570 stations.
