Free trees for Coventry landowners

Coventry Editorial 12th Mar, 2023   0

SEVERN Trent is offering free trees to landowners across Coventry, writes Eloise Hodges.

The water provider is offering to cover pre-planting, planning and maintenance costs over the next 10 years for owners of land between 2.2 and five acres.

Interested landowners need to get in touch with Severn Trent before the end of March to get access to the offer.

They will be provided with a desktop assessment of the land, and a tree-planting plan will be drawn up, including trees which are in keeping with the area they are being planted in.

Severn Trent was the official Nature and Carbon Neutral Partner of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the trees they are offering will contribute to the 2,002-acre Commonwealth Forest the firm committed to planting following the event.

Miranda de Freston, senior environmental engagement manager at Severn Trent, said: “We’re really passionate about making a positive impact on the communities and the environment where we live and work, so we’re encouraging landowners to take us up on this fantastic offer.

“We will contribute £80 per acre for 10 years which will help maintain your trees – all you need to do is plant them.

“To get going, all we need from landowners is photos and maps of their land and we’ll then get in touch to discuss the next steps.”

Landowners should email [email protected] by the end of March.
