A NATIONAL fund-raising campaign urging people to ‘Swim to the Beat’ is set to make a splash at SPATEX in Coventry on Wednesday, February 1.
The Swimming Teachers Association will be launching the campaign which supports research into heart and circulatory diseases.
With help from Britain’s Got Talent finalist Zoe Cooper, the drive is aimed at raising funds for the British Heart foundation throughout Heart Month in February 2023.
Cash raised will fund vital scientific research to save and improve the lives of people affected by heart and circulatory diseases.
Swim schools and clubs are set to host aquatic-themed events throughout February, including babies splashing to the ‘beat’, swimmers ‘beating’ their best time, and aquatic classes dancing to the ‘beat’.
More than 15,000 swimmers will be participating across the UK.
SPATEX is the UK’s only dedicated pool and spa show and has been held at Coventry Building Society Arena for nine years.
The three-day event, which attracts over 1,400 visitors, began on Saturday and runs until Thursday, February 2.
Zoe, who is a member of Aquabatix synchronised swimming team will be performing at SPATEX.
She said: “The idea is to get everyone together to swim or splash to the beat, have fun and raise funds for the BHF.
“It’s far-reaching, reflecting STA’s portfolio of activities, which is why we think this aquatic-themed fund-raising campaign is so different and unique.”
SPATEX event organiser Michele Bridle added: “We’re delighted to be hosting the STA for the first event of the ‘Swim to the Beat’ campaign.
“We hope that visitors to the show will take the time to visit the Aqua Warehouse stand to find out more about how they can get involved.”
