TWO Coventry animal welfare charities have their tails up after raising £7,100 during a joint gala ball for homeless pets in their care.
The event saw a night of dinner and dancing at Coombe Abbey Hotel, with all the cash going to Cats Protection’s Coventry Branch and RSPCA Coventry and District.
Guests enjoyed a three-course meal, presentations, a silent auction and a raffle, with local businesses donating over 50 prizes.
Wendy Harris, Coordinator for Cats Protection’s Coventry Branch, said: “We’re extremely grateful to everyone for not only giving up their precious time but for raising such a remarkable amount of money, especially at such a difficult financial time.
“It was so good that we’ve already started talking about another one in a couple of years.”
Dave Budd, Deputy Manager at Coventry Animal Centre which is run by the RSPCA Coventry & District Branch, added: “As the cost of living has risen so has the number of animals and owners needing assistance – the evening alone was fantastic but the funds raised will continue to have an impact for months to come.”
