ON an overcast Friday afternoon, dozens of Coventry Bees fans turned out to support The Coventry Observer’s Save Our Bees campaign.

Sunday February 26 will go down as one of the darkest days in the history of the Coventry Bees speedway team.

The day started with promise, hope, and – above all – excitement as fans anticipated another thrilling season of top class motorsport.

But by early afternoon hearts were broken and years of history came to an end as the BSPA confirmed the club would not be taking part in this year’s SGB Premiership.

The Observer reacted quickly and on Monday launched a Save Our Bees campaign – which aims to get the world-famous Coventry Bees back on track for the 2018 SGB Premiership season.

Our campaign also wants to ensure a long-term plan is developed so the Bees can look forward to a bright future away from their Brandon home once a potential lease ends.

Despite being held during working hours, our photocall received a tremendous response – and we’d like to thank those who showed their support.

A further event is planned to be hosted in the coming months at a more convenient time in a central city location.

To support our campaign you can:

1) Share our campaign stories

2) Tweet us using the #SaveOurBees to @Covobservernews

3) Email [email protected] with your Coventry Bees memories.
