AN OPEN-AIR dance festival will take place in the ruins and grounds of Coventry Cathedral this summer.
Gatecrasher – the legendary international clubbing brand – will put together a line-up of dance and classical music inspired sets to be performed in the historic setting.
A host of live performers – yet to be announced – and a 40-piece orchestra will play an array of dance tracks as part of a special day-time festival on August 18 from 4pm to 2am.
Organisers have called it an ‘intimate boutique festival experience’ complete with fun-fair rides and market stalls.
Trance artist Scott Bond said: “Join us to experience an intimate open air boutique festival in the heart of the city in this sublime setting of Coventry Cathedral grounds and ruins.
“Another epic Gatecrasher production featuring lasers, a light show, special FX, all synchronised with a kick-ass sound system.
“Attractions: fun-fair, festival stall, barbeque street food, cider bar, prosecco bars, VIP area, face painting.”
Gatecrasher said on its Facebook account that 2,000 tickets will be released ‘very soon’ and people can register for pre-sale and early bird tickets now.
It said: “The wait is over. The Lions returns to the midlands with a kick-ass show incorporating both the Gatecrasher Classical concept and a full on DJ line up in one amazing space.”
It is the latest added to an exciting schedule of summer events which has included the BBC’s Biggest Weekend festival and the Godiva festival which will take place in the War Memorial Park from August 31 – September 2.
