GCSEs: Every student at WMG Academy secures place at sixth form, college or apprenticeship

EVERY student at WMG Academy has secured a place at a sixth form, college or apprenticeship following their GCSE results.

The number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in English and Maths has continued to improve across all groups of students.

Art, Computer Science and Electronics saw an average 29 per cent increase in securing the top grades, while 96 per cent of students taking Physics GCSE secured a grade 5 or above.

High achievers included:




  • Mofiyinfoluwa secured 8 GCSEs of Grade 8 or above, including Distinction* in both Engineering Design and Manufacturing and Grade 9 in English Literature, Chemistry and Art
  • Jacob gained a Distinction* in Engineering Manufacturing along with four Grade 9s in Computer Science, Maths, Physics and Chemistry
  • Declan gained 5 Grade 9s across a variety of STEM subjects: Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Language
  • Lochlann had Grade 9 success in Electronics, Maths, Computer Science, English Language and Distinction* in Engineering Manufacture

WMG Academy Chief Executive Stewart Tait said: “We are delighted that we are once again seeing significant achievement across the ability range of students at WMG Academy Coventry with some fantastic individual stand out performances.

“I know that many of our students will continue their journey with us whilst others will go on to a wide range of other pathways with their impressive learning and business behaviours standing them in good stead.
