A 15-YEAR-OLD girl has admitted causing death by careless driving after teenager William Kingham, also 15, died when a car overturned in Knowle.

The teenager appeared at Birmingham Youth Court on Friday(March 18) where she was given a 12-month Referral Order to agree a contract of rehabilitation with Coventry youth offender panel. She was also disqualified from driving for three years.

A Renault Clio flipped onto its roof in Kenilworth Road on November 23 last year and William from Solihull sadly died at the scene.

The girl, who cannot be named due to her age, also pleaded guilty to driving without a licence or insurance.

The driver of a second car was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving at the time. The 19-year-old man has since been released with no further action.

A fundraising page set up by William’s best friend’s mum to help his family pay for funeral costs raised a staggering £5,500 in just four days.

Speaking at the time his family said: “William was a loving son and grandson and a caring and funny brother. We are all totally devastated and heartbroken to have lost him so early in such cruel circumstances and will miss him dearly.”
