Godiva Calling Coventry artists for battle of the bands competition

Ryan Smith 13th Jul, 2022

GODIVA Calling is back to give some of Coventry’s best local bands the chance to be part of the city’s biggest festival.

The battle of the bands’ style competition will see signed and unsigned acts with a Coventry postcode compete in a series of heats across July and August, with the winner of each heat getting the chance to perform at the Godiva Festival.

The Indie heat will be taking place at the New Albany pub on three dates between July 29 and August 12, while the singer/songwriter category will have five rounds from July 25 and August 19 at Millsy’s.

Urban bands can audition at the Coventry Caribbean Association on August 14, while The Arches will be hosting the rock and metal heat on five dates between July 27 and August 21.

Alternative groups will have to battle their way through three heats between July 27 and August 10 at the Tin Music and Arts, and there will be an under-18 category at the same venue.

Under-18 bands will get to audition on July 19 and solo artists can show their talents the following day, although consent will need to be given by a parent or guardian.

The Godiva Festival will be taking place from September 2 to September 4 at Coventry’s War Memorial Park.
