STUDENTS from Grace Academy stirred up a delicious spread of sponge cake treats in a special Great Grace Bake-off.
The competition was organised amid Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, and youngsters raised more than £100 for the worthwhile charity.
Year seven and eight students were invited to enter the cake-designing competition, with the winners then baking their creations – which were sold to raise funds.
Kamrandeep Lotta was the overall winner who designed and bakes and Oreo, chocolate finger, and M&Ms creation.
She said: “I’m awful at baking so I thought I was going to lose, but I feel great now I’ve won.”
Mya Devonish, who baked a lemon-flavoured cake with berries, added: “I wanted to take part because it was for charity and a really good cause – plus I love baking.”
Vicki Quinn, co-head of Years seven, eight, and nine, said the idea of the event was to create some healthy competition between each year group – while raising money.
She added: “The students thoroughly enjoyed the event and it was a pleasure working with the Year seven girls who organised and judged the competition.”
