COVENTRIANS are being urged to have their say on how the city’s political map is redrawn.
New boundaries are being proposed for council wards in Coventry, with the Local Government Boundary Commission (LGBC) now running a consultation on the plans until January 22.
The plans are designed to ensure Coventry City Councillors are representing around the same number of electors, and that ward arrangements help the authority work effectively.
The independent body, which began the review earlier this year, has now published proposals for changes to Coventry.
These include adding the Eastern Green Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) in Woodlands ward using the A45 as the boundary between the new development and Bablake ward to the north.
The LGBC also proposes amending the boundary between Upper Stoke and Lower Stoke to follow Longfellow Road rather than Ansty Road as it currently does.
Prof Colin Mellors, Chair of the Commission, said: “We want people in Coventry to help us.
“We want to make sure these new electoral arrangements reflect communities. We also want them to be easy to understand and convenient for local people.
“Residents and local organisations can help us do that. We would like them to let us know whether they agree with our proposals before we take final decisions.”
