HELP HARRY Help Others is joining forces with Warwick author Samuel Langley-Swain this Christmas in a bid to get children thinking of others this festive season while raising funds for the charity.
Santa’s Wish tells the story of a family who are visited by Father Christmas on Christmas Eve and he takes them to the North Pole and picks out their letter and a boy makes a wish about people not being lonely and sharing.
This partnership aims to celebrate Christmas as the perfect time to inject a little bit of hope, magic and optimism, the kind that Harry was so well known and loved for.
Georgie Moseley, Harry’s Mum and founder of Help Harry Help Others (HHHO), explains that her charity doesn’t do many ‘partnerships’ like this, but the message of the book really struck a chord with her.
She added: “When I first read the story it really hit me, because of how close to Harry’s ethos and energy it was, he always thought of others and put them first.
“He once met Santa in Lapland and ‘wished for Santa to find a cure for Cancer, which was another reason why the story resonated with us.”
HHHO was the creation of inspirational Sheldon youngster Harry Moseley, who died in 2011 at the age of just 11 after a four-year battle with a brain tumour.
During his brave battle Harry began selling bracelets to raise money for Cancer Research UK – raising over £750,000 through bracelet sales and gaining the backing of many high-profile celebrities.
When Harry passed away his heartbroken mum Georgie and a team of friends took up the baton in his honour to maintain and grow Help Harry Help Others to help children and their families battling cancer.
Santa’s Wish is Samuel’s first children’s story book, which he has self-published, after being inspired by his journey in to parent-hood and his adopted children.
He said: “My world changed when I became a Dad.
“Now, I am continually amazed by the challenges my children (and many like them) face in their daily lives and these are the inspiration behind my stories.
“When I realised through my own children, how many vulnerable families spent Christmas without the warmth of Christmas and magic of Santa, I wanted to write a story that was uplifting and hopeful and encourage children to think of others, not just the presents they expect.”
The partnership with Help Harry Help Others will help support the on-going fundraising efforts of the charity, with half of the proceeds from every book sold going directly to the charity.
The resounding positivity that surrounds Santa’s Wish has subsequently spurred Samuel to pen three more children’s titles which will be published in early 2018, each one helping to unravel complex issues for young readers.
