A FIRE dog who helped investigate hundreds of incidents has died.
Kai, a ten-year-old Belgian Malinois, worked as a fire investigation dog at West Midlands Fire Service with handler Mat Dixon.
Kai was retired in January after losing his sight overnight which left him unable to carry out his work safely.
He was later diagnosed with a brain tumour and he died on March 7.
On Twitter Mat said: “He passed with his head on my lap, a chew in his mouth and a wag in his tail.
“I will miss you Kai, more than you could ever know.
“Until we meet again Kai………Find it.!”
West Midlands Fire Service said: “Having conducted fire investigations at hundreds of incidents in the West Midlands and elsewhere, Kai’s service to our communities has been vital.”
