A HOMELESS mental health team from Coventry has been shortlisted in NHS Parliamentary Awards.
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust’s (CWPT) Coventry Homeless Mental Health Team have been shortlisted for the Excellence in Mental Health Care Award.
The team is made up of Sara Galvin, advanced clinical practitioner and Sam Ford, homeless pathway support worker, supports people who are homeless or at risk of eviction with severe mental illness in Coventry.
Created in 2018, the awards recognise the contribution of staff, volunteers and others working in the health sector.
Coventry Homeless Mental Health Team is going forward to the final round of the awards – 318 MPs across England put forward 918 nominations.
MP Zarah Sultana nominated CWPT for the award.

“The Coventry Homeless Mental Health Team work tirelessly to support people with severe mental illness who are homeless or at risk of eviction.
“They provide a vital lifeline for many vulnerable people, advocating on behalf of people who are homeless and supporting them to overcome barriers and challenges in accessing mainstream services.
“We’re immensely proud of the team and wish them luck at the awards ceremony in October.”
Sam Ford, homeless pathway support worker added: “On behalf of the Coventry Homeless Mental Health Team, we are both thrilled and honoured to be shortlisted for this year’s NHS Parliamentary Awards.
“We hope that our nomination and potential commendation will highlight the importance of caring for perhaps society’s most vulnerable people and bring more attention to the growing issue of homelessness and the myriad of challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness.”
Winners will be announced on October 14.
