How you can preview a new BBC drama set in Coventry

Coventry Editorial 3rd Mar, 2023   0

COVENTRIANS could be able to watch an exclusive preview of a new BBC drama set in the city later this month.

The red carpet event at Finham Park 2 secondary school on March 14 will feature a screening of the first two episodes of Phoenix Rise, as well as a panel discussion with some of the cast.

Phoenix Rise tells the story of six diverse teenagers taking their first steps back into mainstream education following exclusion.

The misfit heroes end up bonding and their friendship fuels a determination not to be side-lined.

The preview event will be attended by many of the cast, including up-and-coming actors Alex Draper, Lauren Corah, Jayden Hanley and Jessal Kullar-Bell.

The show, which will be coming to BBC iPlayer on March 21, was filmed last summer in several locations around Coventry including former secondary school, Woodlands Academy.

Stuart Thomas, Head of the Midlands for BBC England, said: “We are really excited to see a new drama set in the West Midlands which puts our young people and their lives at the heart of its story.

“The West Midlands makes up an incredibly diverse and creative region and it’s fantastic our young people will be able to see their city depicted on screen – I can’t wait to put the spotlight back on Coventry.”

Visit bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/shows/phoenix-rise-14mar23 to apply for tickets for the exclusive screening.

The ticket ballot will close at midnight on Tuesday, March 7.
