I WANT to wish everyone in Coventry a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Many people will be enjoying the festivities at this time of year, but for some it can be a difficult time: Loneliness can feel more acute and many people’s budgets are particularly stretched.
And that’s getting tougher as the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite. This has been the biggest issue facing my constituents this year – and I have repeatedly challenged the Conservative government on its shambolic record.
In Westminster, I have called for more to be done to help those struggling and here in Coventry I am proud to have raised money for Coventry Foodbank, now having donated a total of £13,000 to the emergency food provider – enough to feed around 8,500 children in the city.
In the new year, I will continue to take the Conservatives to task – and this time next year, I hope we will have finally booted them out of office.
