'Incredible achievement' as Warwick team win BBC's University Challenge

A TEAM from the University of Warwick won BBC Two’s University Challenge.

In an impressive performance screened on Monday, Richard Pollard, George Braid, Owain Burrell and Andrew Rout defeated Cambridge’s Magdalene College by 195 points to 140.

Following the victory, the University’s vice-chancellor Prof Stuart Croft said: “After a thrilling series and an edge of the seat final,

“I am absolutely delighted to congratulate Warwick’s University Challenge team on their superb victory.

“To have won the series without losing a single match is an incredible achievement, especially against such excellent competition.”

He said he was sure the whole of the Warwick community would join him in sending congratulations and best wishes to Richard, George, Andrew and Owain.

They also received congratulations from Coventry South MP Zarah Sultana who tweeted her best wishes to the team.
