International Women's Month - Pay tribute to your favourite females on Coventry's six pink trees

PEOPLE can pay tribute to women they feel are special to them by helping decorate one of six pink trees being placed across Coventry.

Residents are invited to decorate leaves which will be attached to the trees’ branches as part of the city’s International Women’s Month celebrations.

The women chosen can be alive or dead and be mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter, teacher, a woman in history or a celebrity participants feel deserves a dedication.

The leaves will contain a message and maybe a photograph to celebrate their lives and can be made from any material.

they will be fixed to the tree with a ribbon to signify Coventry’s historic links with the ribbon industry.

The trees will be at Coventry City Council House, the Cathedral, the Methodist Central Hall, West Orchards Shopping Centre, Metropolis restaurant and Foleshill Library.

After the festival the leaves will become incorporated into a book so people who want everyone to know which leaves are theirs should include their own name as well.

Later in the year a living tree will be planted to commemorate all the women.
