Investigation ends into fundraising page to help families of Coventry bus crash victims

Coventry Editorial 29th Jan, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THE FUND-RAISING page set up to help pay for the funerals of the Coventry bus crash victims has had no further action taken after it was referred to a national fraud agency.

Father-of-two, Ian Brownsword, set up the page after the incident and raised £700 within days of its launch.

However the page was taken down after a relative of one of the victims raised concerns with West Midlands Police.

No charges were made against Mr Brownsword after he told The Observer he did not personally know the families – though was in contact with close friends.

A full investigation reached its conclusion yesterday and no further action will be taken.

The money raised has now been split between the two families of the victims.
