IRISH music and dancing filled St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in Coventry as it celebrated its namesake saint.
Children and staff at the school – part of the Romero Catholic Academy – were joined by parishioners from St Patrick’s Catholic Church.
They all enjoyed performances from musicians and a dance troupe from the Coventry-based Celtica Academy Irish Dance School.
The traditional Irish dish colcannon was on the menu for pupils to enjoy at lunchtime, before the school opened its doors for a family fun afternoon.
Visitors enjoyed a Gaelic football demonstration, Irish poetry and Irish blessing as well as the children performing dance and music.
Principal Mark McLoughlin said: “Everyone had a fantastic time celebrating
St Patrick’s Day – an extremely important event in our school calendar.
“We haven’t held an event of this size in the school for some time due to Covid, so it was wonderful to be able to mark the occasion in this way.
“I would like to thank all of the staff and visitors for helping to make it such a huge success, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s celebrations.”
