TWO Just Stop Oil campaigners have been charged after they staged a protest at Coventry’s Dippy the Dinosaur exhibition on Easter Monday.
Victoria Lindsell, aged 67, from School Hill in Flecknoe and 21-year-old Daniel Knorr have been charged with having an article with intent to destroy or damage property.
They appeared before Coventry Magistrates Court yesterday (Tuesday, April 11).
The Just Stop Oil campaign group released a video on its social media of two protesters jumping over the barriers to enter the Dippy display at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.
Security guards then restrained the protesters before police arrested them and led them away.
A statement released by Just Stop Oil said the two arrested were demanding the government stop all new Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.
A Just Stop Oil spokesperson said: “The protesters were calling on employees and directors of UK cultural institutions to join in civil resistance against the government’s genocidal policies.
“Humanity is at risk of extinction, and so is everything we have ever created.
“Our works of art, our favourite novels, our historical buildings and artefacts, our traditions – we’re terrifyingly close to losing everything we value and love.”
