Kind-hearted Coventrians continue to rally for Hallie

LOCAL residents are continuing to Rally for Hallie Reeve as the bid to raise enough cash to fund life-saving treatment for the 20-month-old ticks towards the £750,000 mark.

City youngster Hallie needs £1million to pay for her to travel to America for a CAR T-cell therapy trial- the best option for her to beat Juvenile myelomonocytic leukaemia (JMML), a rare type of cancer.

After being diagnosed aged just eight months last summer, Hallie has undergone chemotherapy, two stem cell transplants and blood transfusions, all with no success.

Coventry Rugby Club gathered at Broadgate last Friday where its players travelled 350,000metres between them, with donation buckets available.

The 35-strong squad completed the task either on foot or through rowing machines and exercise bikes.

Coventry head coach Alex Rae knows Hallie’s uncle Adam, and once the players found out about the youngsters’ urgent race against time they volunteered to join in the campaign.

Meanwhile, Coventry City players Matty Godden, Gustavo Hamer and Ben Sheaf have all donated their football boots from May’s play-off final defeat to Luton Town towards the cause.

Sky Blues fans can now bid for the boots with all the funds going towards Hallie’s appeal.

Hallie’s family are all lifelong Sky Blues supporters, with Hallie’s dad Jamie describing his beloved clubs support as ’emotional.’

And over £1,400 was raised through a charity raffle organised on social media by Coventrian Hayley Elms.

Coombe Abbey donated a dinner, bed and breakfast package at its hotel with people paying £10 to enter.

Hayley has organised numerous raffles of this kind for the Rally for Hallie appeal, with the lucky winners of the next contest able to win an afternoon tea for two at Wroxall Abbey.

Hayley thanked everyone taking part in the raffles for their incredible support so far and was determined to help Hallie reach the £1million target.
