KIND kids at a Coventry primary school have helped prepare hot meals for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness over the festive season.
Pupils at St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School helped the Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire charity for the third year running, by working with staff to create a range of dishes for people in need this winter.
Children in Years 5 and 6 helped make vegetable soup, while Years 3 and 4 made sausage rolls and Years 1 and 2 made chocolate crispy cakes.
The school’s catering team helped the children with the food preparation before delivering the packages to Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire.
Ingredients were by provided by a range of suppliers including Coventry-based Freshest Fruit and Vegetables, and Rylance Foods, which supplied the ingredients for the crispy cakes and sausage rolls.
Megan Scullion, Principal at St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School, said: “We’re so proud of our pupils for their compassion and enthusiasm in supporting such an important cause again this Christmas.
“Taking part in this initiative with Emmaus is a wonderful way for children to understand the value of giving back to the community, especially during the festive season.”
