THE Godiva Sisters will mark Goodyvers Day with a parade starting in Broadgate at 12pm on Saturday September 14.
As part of the Heritage Open days the Godiva Sisters story was selected as an event.
It will showcase as a contribution the the 30th anniversary of the open days and will include a procession with music, costume, banners and umbrellas moving from presentation.
Lady Godiva died on September 10, 1067 and a feast was held on the anniversary of her death – known as Dame Goodyvers Daye.
After 400 years this feast was restored into the calendar of Coventry after by the present-day official Lady Godiva, Pru Porretta MBE.
Godiva and her Godiva Sisters are sharing the event for everyone, which expresses community cohesion in our city of peace and reconciliation.
A display to celebrate the faith and heritage of Coventry will be available at Priory Visitor Centre from 11am – 2pm until Friday September 13.
Pru Porretta, Chair of Coventry Multi-Faith Forum, and the director of Godiva Trust extends greetings to all those who work, live or study in Coventry.
