REMODELLING work on the children’s emergency department at Coventry’s University Hospital is now under way.
The work is expected to last six months and forms part of a £15million expansion project on hospital services.
A Trust spokesperson said all youngsters attending the children’s emergency department should only be accompanied by one parent or carer while work was conducted to ensure all patients have sufficient waiting area space.
The spokesperson added staff were working hard to minimise disruptions for patients and the work may cause some inconvenience.
“We have a zero-tolerance approach to violence and aggression, and we urge people to treat staff and patients with respect and kindness at all times to enable our teams to continue to give care to those who need it most.”
Last year, the hospital opened a modernised, more easily accessible waiting room and five new cubicles as part of the expansion project.
This followed the opening of a new minor injuries unit next to the main entrance at the site.
