Lifelong Sky Blues fans enjoy morning of football and friendship

LIFELONG Sky Blues fans were welcomed to the CBS Arena on Monday, October 17 for a free befriending event for the elderly.

Around 45 people attended the event at the arenas Coventry Lounge, where they were able to share footballing memories, enjoy a presentation and take pictures with the FA Cup.

And fans had the chance to meet some of their football heroes, with legends Bill Tedds and Ian Goodwin attending.

The befriending events are being run by the Coventry Building Society (CBS) throughout the year to help elderly or lonely members of the local community to enjoy a day out and make new friends.

Emma Brodie, Senior Community Officer at Coventry Building Society, said: “We’ve had a fantastic morning listening to stories and hearing all about the wonderful memories from the club’s past.

“Our befriending events bring local people together in a safe, warm and welcoming place for our elderly community who feel isolated.

“Our guests have had the chance to connect with their fellow Coventry City fans and legends, and have friendly conversations over a cuppa.”

Anyone who wants to join a future event or knows someone who may be interested can email [email protected] or visit a CBS branch and ask for Emma Brodie.
