A PROGRAMME of 30 minute performances will take place in Coventry city centre between midday and 4.30pm on Sunday, July 25, to celebrate International Buskers’ Day.

Acts performing – as part of the UK City of Culture’s ‘Summer of Surprises’ – include Instruments of Joy, Bombay Baja, Flat Cap 3, Phase 3 and Valentino Trio.

The short shows will be on Market Way, Smithford Way and Broadgate with some promenading around Broadgate during the day.

The events are supported by the Coventry City of Culture Trust and the city council.

Coun Abdul Salam Khan, Coventry city council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events, said: “Music brings all together and adds a vibrancy to life.

“These performances across the city centre will brighten everyone’s day and bring a smile to all in the city centre on the 25 July.”

Chenine Bhathena, Creative Director at Coventry City of Culture Trust said: “It is fantastic to be working with Coventry City Council to celebrate our local music sector for International Busking Day as part of our UK City of Culture Summer of Surprises programme.

“We have such an incredible amount of musical talent in Coventry, some of which will be available for people to see in and around the city centre at the weekend. So, if you are out and on Sunday, make sure to keep your eyes and ears open for some wonderful performances.”

As well as the acts already announced, the organisers are looking for local street performers to join us on the day. Get in touch at [email protected]
