A COVENTRY supporting homeless people across Coventry and Warwickshire has received a £1,000 towards supporting residents with food, winter clothes and bedding.
Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire offers a fresh start for homeless people by providing stable accommodation, employment, support and training.
The donation came from the Amazon receive centre in Coventry, as part of the Amazon in the Community programme. Site leader Paul Roberts said: “We are proud to make this donation to Emmaus. The charity’s staff and volunteers do amazing work that truly makes a difference in our community.”
Those supported by the charity receive personal and professional training including driving lessons, IT training, health and safety and food safety.
The charity also offers a work placement programme at Emmaus’ charity shop on Red Lane in Coventry, as well as at Coventry City and North Warwickshire Borough councils undertaking their bulk waste collection.
And if an individual wishes to move on, Emmaus helps them find accommodation and work.
Geraldine Tsakirakis from Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire said: “On behalf of our staff and the people we support, we would like to say thank you to Paul and the Amazon Coventry team. We are very grateful for this donation.”
During the pandemic Amazon is also providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses and teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver over two million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
