A WOMAN who died in a late-night crash involving two cars in Longford has been named as Kristina Jakusa.

The 37-year-old, who was originally from Latvia but living in Coventry at the time, died after her blue Volkswagen Bora collided with a black Ford Focus in Sydnall Road at around 10pm on July 13.

She was pronounced dead at the scene while several other people from both vehicles were also injured in the crash and taken to University Hospital.

A man in his late 20s from the Coventry area arrested in connection with the collision has been bailed pending further inquiries and police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash.

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision in which Kristina sadly died, and our thoughts go out to her family and friends at this difficult time,” said Sergeant Neil Higgins, from West Midlands Police’s Collision Investigation Unit.

“Obviously they want to know exactly how Kristina came to lose her life on that day and it is important that we are able to give them the answers they so desperately need.
