A FACEBOOK video featuring catchphrases and signature moves from television fitness guru Mr Motivator prompted the 90s star to hold a mass keep fit session at a Coventry school.
Derrick Evans, better known as 90s star Mr Motivator, visited Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School to hold a fitness class for youngsters.
Dressed for the occasion, pupils donned brightly coloured clothing in true Mr Motivator fashion – and staff joined in too.
Derrick’s visit came after the school, which is part of the Romero Catholic Academy, created a video to promote ‘keeping healthy’ starring seven-year-old Max Mahony as ‘Max the Motivator’.
The video was seen by Derrick himself at his home in Jamaica after he was hashtagged in the comments – leading to him contacting the school to meet some of his youngest fans.
Lauren Roberts, year two class teacher and computing lead at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, said: “We were so surprised to hear that Derrick had seen the video all the way in Jamaica.
“It was a very fun morning for the children and was an excellent way to teach them even more about health and wellbeing and the benefits of exercise.
“Each child drew a picture of Mr Motivator for Derrick as a thank you for visiting the school.”
Derrick said he was thrilled to see the youngsters inspired by the Mr Motivator fitness brand.
He said: “I come over to England quite regularly so when I saw Max’s video I was really keen to come and meet him and the rest of the children.
“Fitness has been my life for 40 years and it’s really important that we take any opportunity we get to inspire and motivate young people.
“It’s been amazing to visit Sacred Heart, and the fitness sessions have been a great opportunity to get the children moving.
“Music is a great motivator and the children have had a lot of fun.”
