THIS is the first image released of the four-week-old baby snatched in an Acocks Green car-jacking.
Baby Eliza is pictured safe and well with her mother, Clare O’Neill, who sustained minor injuries during the incident.
A police search was launched yesterday (July 19) after a grey Audi A3 S was stolen on Marie Drive, Acocks Green, just after 4pm.
When Ms O’Neill returned to her drive, two men demanded the keys to her car.
As she frantically tried to get her daughter out of the vehicle, the thieves drove off towards Solihull leaving her injured.
Police across the region were immediately mobilised to search for the baby and 45 minutes later an ambulance crew at Small Heath Health Centre, Chapman Road, found the baby still in her car seat.
The Eliza was taken to hospital to be re-united with her mother, who was receiving treatment for leg injuries.
Police are still searching for the stolen vehicle.
Detective inspector Jim Munro, from force CID, said: “This incident has shocked the whole of our force area and we will leave no stone unturned in our search for the offenders
“We have a team of officers trawling through CCTV and speaking to residents in Marie Drive, as well as fast-tracking forensic analysis of the baby seat.
“We are asking anyone who may have seen the grey Audi A3 S-line with registration number BJ66 YLV since yesterday afternoon to contact us.
“We are delighted that mother and baby have been re-united and we wish Clare a speedy recovery.”
