Lord Mayor joins Coventry man Tony's 10-miles-a-day walk for Molly Ollys

THE LORD Mayor of Coventry has joined a city man’s sponsored walk in support of Molly Ollys, a Warwick-based charity which supports children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, writes William Rogers.

Tony Cunningham, 72, who underwent a quadruple bypass, is walking 10 miles every day in memory of his late wife of 47 years who lost her battle with lung cancer last year.

So far Tony has walked over 2,800 miles and raised more than £5,000 for the charity which works alongside the NHS to support projects within local hospitals.

Alongside the Molly Ollys foundation, Lord Mayor, Coun Kevin Maton, is asking people to donate to his chosen charities – CRASAC (the Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre), the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre, and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Coun Maton said: “Tony is an incredible inspiration. He is there in the park every day, covering 10 miles and chatting to other park users to spread news of Molly Ollys and the great work it does.

“It will be an honour to keep him company for a little while and support his efforts, and to try and do our bit for some very worthy causes.”
