MARGARET Biggs has very much become part of the furniture at a newsagents in Radford where she has worked for 45 years.
The 71-year-old started working at the newsagents on Jubilee Crescent, which is now McColls, as a young mother of two back in 1969.
At the age of 26, she took a part-time role and after a very short stint elsewhere was persuaded to come back and has remained there ever since with no plans to retire just yet.
“I’ve enjoyed myself so much here I’ve not really bothered to look for another job.” joked Margaret, who works several hours a week.
“I had two young girls when I started and the job was ideal because I lived just around the corner and I was really interested in how the shop was run.
“I’ve grown up with the same customers and I still see some of the young paper boys from many years ago. It’s just such a happy place for me.
“I’ve been here for half of my life, it’s been a long time but I’ve got to know lots of people in the community.”
