A MAN has been arrested after a police crackdown on anti-social and criminal vehicle use in Coventry.
The man was arrested on suspicion of riding a stolen bike as a result of a series of activities carried out in Longford, Henley, Stoke Aldermoor and Wyken on August 10.
The operation targeted areas where those using off-road bikes would typically go to evade the police.
Police equipped with road bikes took part in high-visibility patrols, intelligence gathering, stopping bikes and carrying out checks.
The teams used Selecta DNA spray to tag off-road bikes.
The spray leaves a DNA-coded residue on the rider and vehicle which cannot be easily washed off and helps track and identify known offenders.
North East Insp Amy Wright said: “This is all part of our efforts to reduce the impact off-road bikes are having in the area by targeting those involved and their associated offending.
“We are aware of the distress and disruption caused in the community by off-road bikes and are continuing to take action against it wherever and whenever we receive intelligence.”
