Man bailed after crash killed Coventry motorcyclist

A MAN arrested in connection with the death of motorcyclist after a crash in Wood End has been released on bail.

A man in his 50s died following the collision involving a motorbike and a silver Ford Mondeo on Wednesday (June 13).

Emergency services were called to Hall Green Road at the junction with Almond Tree Avenue at 6.30pm.

The car driver, a 28-year-old man living in Radford, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.




West Midlands Police say he has now been released on bail pending further investigations, until July 11.

The Coventry motorcyclist was discovered in cardiac arrest after sustaining serious injuries.


He was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Midlands Police collision investigation unit is looking into the circumstances of the crash and has urged witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Alan Wood said: “We understand that the collision took place at the junction between the two roads the biker suffered very serious injuries and there was nothing that could be done to save him.

“I would ask anyone who saw the collision or saw the bike or silver Mondeo in the moments leading up to the impact to please get in touch as they could hold vital information.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews discovered the motorcyclist, a man, in cardiac arrest following the collision.

“Ambulance staff performed CPR and administered advanced life support but unfortunately it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was treated for the effects of shock and discharged at the scene.”
