Man arrested and power tools seized

Coventry Editorial 2nd Jul, 2024   0

A MAN has been arrested and power tools have been seized in Coventry during a successful warrant.

Officers from the North East neighbourhood carried out a warrant at an address in Lillington Road and recovered a significant amount of power tools throughout the property which police suspect were taken from vans in the city.

Officers also seized a small bag of cannabis during the warrant last Friday (June, 28).

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and has since been bailed while enquiries continue.

Officers are advising van owners of ways to keep their van safe.

1. Lock your van: It may sound obvious, but always ensure your van is securely locked when not in use. For older van models, you might want to install a tracker that can track the GPS of the stolen vehicle.

2. Remove valuables: Don’t leave any valuable items visible inside your van. Thieves are more likely to target vehicles with tempting items on display, so take the time to remove tools, equipment, and personal belongings whenever possible.

3. Consider secure storage: If you frequently carry expensive tools and equipment, consider investing in a safe or anchor locks to secure them inside your van.

4. Remove tools overnight: Whenever possible take your tools out of your van overnight or during weekends when it’s not in use.

5. Installing CCTV: Having a dash cam or a small CCTV camera inside your van which connects to your phone can help identify criminals and help police with investigations.
