Man arrested in connection with Andrew Flamson hit and run murder probe

Coventry Editorial 19th Jul, 2022 Updated: 19th Jul, 2022

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the fatal hit and run in Coventry last Tuesday evening, July 12.

Andrew Flamson suffered serious head injuries after being knocked down by a silver Ford Mondeo in Grosvenor Road.

The 40-year-old died in hospital three days later and enquiries established there was an altercation between two groups which may have been a catalyst for the collision.

A second man, also aged 40, remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital after also being hit by the car.

A dog, which was being walked by the pair at the time, was also so badly injured it had to be put down.

Police have acted on information it received and this morning (Tuesday) arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

A 42-year-old woman was also detained in relation to assisting an offender.

They both remain in custody and are due to be quizzed by officers.

Police say they remain keen to hear from anyone who witnessed disorder in nearby Westminster Road, the collision or the silver Mondeo driving away.

Officers also want anyone with dash cam footage to get in touch.

People can contact police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk or by calling 101.

Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Family tribute to Andrew

Andrew’s family released the picture above and, in a tribute, described him as a ‘true geezer with many friends’.

They added: “Andrew was much-loved by many people. We’ve received messages from all over the country from the party and dance scene. Music was Andrew’s life.”
