A MAN who murdered his brother after a family row spiralled out of control has been jailed.

Lenville Waite, aged 59, stabbed his older brother Clifton with a single fatal wound to his chest, during the dispute in Birmingham on November 7 last year.

Sadly despite the efforts of the emergency services, the 61-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Waite fled the house leaving the kitchen knife he had used behind but was arrested four days later in Coventry having bought and changed into new clothes and shoes.

He claimed in police interview that although he knew he had injured his brother he had not realised how badly hurt he was.

Waite, of Waverley Road, Birmingham, denied murder but was found guilty today after a trial at Derby Crown Court he was found guilty today.

He was jailed for life and ordered to serve at least 17 years in prison.

Det Insp Jim Colclough from West Midlands Police’s homicide unit, said: “This is a sad case of a row between brothers which ultimately ended in one of them losing his life.

“We can only hope this verdict brings some resolution and peace for the family as a whole.”
