A MAN was arrested and a car was seized during a targeted vehicle operation in Coventry.

Officers visited White Street Coach Park on May 31 along with special constables and the road harm prevention team, where they stopped several taxis and HGVs and took action against illegal tyres and similar defects.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after testing positive for cannabis, as well as seeing his vehicle seized for having no insurance.

In total, 34 vehicles were stopped, with six drivers spoken to about their tyres and six more about the tint of their windows.

One vehicle was found to have a faulty handbrake while another had too many people in the back.

Another vehicle was found to have a dangerous load, while two other drivers were stopped for driving with no insurance or licence as well as two illegal number plates.

Insp Amy Wright said: “This was an excellent piece of cooperative work by teams, with the majority of vehicles stopped having positive action taken against them.

“Working with partners like this helps us keep Coventry’s roads safe and is an excellent example of the cooperative work we regularly take in the city.

“This kind of work helps us take proactive action against drivers who are breaking the law and endangering other road users.”
